Alcohol×Benzodiazepines
⚡︎ Synergistic
Effects amplify or substances synergize with each other. If each substance is not dosed significantly lower than when used individually, overdose with undesirable effects may occur.
☠️︎ Life Threatening
This combination is very dangerous and unsafe; it may cause significant harm, including physical damage, can trigger unpredictable reactions, and can be fatal!

Ethanol ingestion may potentiate the CNS effects of many benzodiazepines. The two substances potentiate each other strongly and unpredictably, very rapidly leading to unconsciousness. Blacking out and memory loss is almost certain. If the person loses consciousness, it is strongly recommended to call emergency services (112), as there is a serious risk of inhaling vomit and choking on it. Also, place the person in the recovery position, monitor breathing, and provide further first aid if necessary.
